Melbourne and something different – Fashion shoot for DYou Disney Magazine

About a month ago I got an email from an Italian Stylist Valeria Rossi. She was interested in working with me for a shoot for a Disney Magazine called DYou. It is new a teenage magazine out of Italy and is international from January. So before long I was on another plane on my way to the hip city of Melbourne. The first shoot was ‘New Year’ themed, and Valeria had a wicked location for this. The Eureka Skydeck. This huge skyscraper is the Southern Hemisphere’s highest public viewing platform, at 88 stories up the view is quite spectacular. A perfect place for a New Years party.

The view from 88 floors up, with the mirrored side of the building that creates quite a illusion
I have not shot too much fashion before, and the shoot was to pose many difficulties. An amazing location, to be shot at night, with a lot of glass and mirrors around. I was pretty nervous, as we only had one chance to nail the 4 shots needed by the magazine that week to come out in January 2011 issue. We headed up for a test … Read Full Post

Some snaps from the West Coast

Over the long weekend, I took some R&R time and headed over to New Zealand’s ragged and wild West Coast. We ventured South of Haast to Hannah’s Clearing and camped on the beach with a BBQ and bonfire along with the local sandflies… Stunning spot. Just thought I would show you some snaps.

Neils Beach – at this time of year it turns into a white baiters haven… Folk set up camp here and make their fortune in white bait

Jackson’s Bay – popular with fishermen, white baiters, surfers, sandflies and the occasional exploratory tourist.

Bo Boots – product shoot

On Monday I had round two of Bo Boots fashion shoot. If you haven’t seen these wonderful boots you should check them out www.boboots.com. They are possibly the coolest thing to walk out of Christchurch, and I have two pairs that I wear to death… Wonderful for winter days and just heaven to put your feet into after a long day in ski boots! Check out a couple of my last years shots that have gone world wide in their ad campaign:

Last years fashion shoot in Christchurch beautifully designed by Hannah Aubery of  H Design

We started off in Base Wanaka and with the help of the lovely Daisy Richards as our stylist, we were soon equipped with an array of very cool clothes, and a different outfit for each shoot. With the gorgeous Jordi Hill as our model we were soon underway with the first … Read Full Post

Rebel Yell BMX shoot

With the closing day of most of the ski fields in NZ, came glorious spring sunshine and calm days. Yay, spring is here… Finally I was able to get a shoot done in Lismore Bike park after waiting 2 weeks for enough dry calm weather. The baby of James Keane, Lismore Park bike trails are lovingly hand sculpted and groomed all winter, for summer riding by a group of enthusiastic bikers, who volunteer to upkeep them, so they can keep riding these trails.

The dedicated kids come down after school to ride and help keep the jumps up to scratch.

James lovingly watering his jumps to keep them from turning to dust.
I was commissioned by Rebel Yell BMX magazine, to do a shoot here for thier trails book. Yesterday was a clear calm beautiful spring day, and I spent most of it hanging out with the kids in Lismore. Here are some shots.

Red Bull Illume finalist – Top 50!

About two weeks ago I got an email from Red Bull International informing me of the massively exciting news that I was a finalist in the prestigious Red Bull Illume Image Quest. Having made the top 250, I was aware I was in with a chance, but never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would make the top 50 out of 23,000 images! That’s a 0.04% chance! But I did. And I was the only female in the finals. With this news I had 5 days to find a flight and get myself to Ireland and Dublin for the large awards night and party, I had a lot of organising to do. With the kind help of United Travel Wanaka and Emirates, I was able to get there.

It was this image of BASE jumper Josie Symons that one me a place at the finals. Taken at Rob Roy Glacier, Wanaka NZ. Check out my page on Red Bull Illume to find out more about the image…
