A bit of adventure and grit never did anyone any harm and for Camilla Rutherford it has essentially molded her into the talented outdoor lifestyle photographer she is today. Leaving behind St Martins College of Art in London where she obtained her Arts Honors Degree, and her homeland of Scotland, Camilla made a pilgrimage deep into the mountains of New Zealand’s South Island and ended up in Wanaka. It is here that she has carved out an undeniable reputation as one of the country’s best adventure sports, travel, lifestyle and commercial photographers.

Camilla finds it easy to relate with art directors and advertising agencies, she loves working to a brief, bringing fresh ideas and her artistic flair to each project and always goes that extra mile to get the shot. Her moody, magical images have revolutionised outdoor publications and marketing campaigns. Over time she has developed a strong, recognisable style that has set her apart from the rest. By capturing moments, telling stories, captivating audiences and creating art, her photography has been published worldwide and gained regular international clients. Camilla now lives on her husband’s high country merino sheep farm in the Wanaka Queenstown area. She is close by to epic locations for shoots and has extensive knowledge of the surrounding area. She is full of ideas for locations for her shoots, both commercial and editorial. Camilla works all over New Zealand and the world, traveling to any location to get the shot.
