HEAL THE EARTH
“Regenerative Agriculture is a system of farming principles and practices that increases biodiversity, enriches soils, improves watersheds, and enhances ecosystem services.”
That smell of summer rain on hot dry ground, the sweet musk of the life giving liquid pouring on the earth, soaking in, feeding the ground to bring new growth.
Let’s face it. We all need to get on the same page: Imagine if Regenerative Agriculture was one of the most promising solutions we have as a global society to reverse climate change, restore waterways, bring back biodiversity AND to grow food that is actually healthy and nutrient dense. I believe it could be our saviour and our biggest reason for hope.
3 years ago my husband began the transition into regenerating the land we farm, bringing back life to the soil, restoring biodiversity, reducing (with the aim to eliminate) all chemical use. He is farming in tune with nature, going beyond organic to produce nutrient dense food and sustainable wool fibre for our clothing. I find this so promising for our future, so inspiring and exciting, I just wanted to share this journey with you.
The more I learnt about this underground revolution of farming, the more farmers I found around New Zealand practicing these methods. I felt that, as a story teller, it was my duty to tell everyone about it. To find out more about my ongoing personal project take a look at my blog Heal the Earth. Here you will find more insight into what our farm is doing, what it means and how we should all be eating food grown this way.
This is a collection of imagery taken around New Zealand of the brave and pioneering farmers, changing the face food production.
